Speakers of Canadian Parliament, along with the Women Ambassadors of Ottawa, hosted a panel discussion and reception on March 25, 2014 on Parliament Hill to mark International Women’s Day. Besides the organizers, House of Commons Speaker the Honourable Andrew Scheer, representative of Senate Speaker the Honourable Noël Kinsella and Women Heads of Diplomatic Missions, the event was attended by the Honourable Chris Alexander, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, the Honourable Dr. K.Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister for Status of Women, the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Consular Affaires, Ms. Almas Jiwani, President of the United Nations Women National Committee Canada, Ms. Ann Denis, University of Ottawa professor emeritus and Canada Research Institute for the Advancement of Women, Mrs. Joy Smith, M.P. and member of Canada-Indonesia Parliamentary Friendship Group, Ms. Hélène LeBlanc, M.P. and Chair of the Standing Committee on the Status of Women (FEWO), Ms. Angela Bogdan, Chief of Protocol of Canada, and other Canadian officials and Members of Parliament.
